Canvas - The sacrifice at Uppsala V2 with antler
Stretched Canvas 18X12"
This artwork is drawn from Adam of Bremen’s account of the temple at Uppsala, where he described three gods standing in honor: Thor in the middle, with Odin and Freyr ( with an antler) beside him. At the top, the hall and its hanging sacrifices recall the offerings made to Odin. Below, the gods stand in their places of reverence, while worshippers raise their offerings in devotion. It is an expression of how our ancestors once honored the gods, through gift, sacrifice, and ritual, binding the folk together in sacred tradition.
